The Model Unit was founded following the closure of the BBC Visual Effects department. Run by Visual Effects Designer Mike Tucker they provide high quality models and miniature effects for TV and film.

Credits include clients such as the BBC, Channel 4, National Geographic, Pioneer Productions, Lion Television, Discovery and Dangerous Films. They were also responsible for the miniature effects featured in the 2005 revival of Doctor Who and Atonement.

Beginning as a trainee under DOP Peter Tyler in 1998 duties include camera operator and second unit on this highly specialised work.
